Why Do People Make 9/11 Jokes?
The people who do don't matter. They are the minority, not the majority. For fcuk sake. Back of America. It's getting old. I'm from the UK. What is some people's problem. there's a'holes in every country in all walks of life. I don't always agree with there government or BO but don't judge an entire nation of people on the few D/heads on Internet forums or what there governments actions are. I went to ground zero a couple of years ago. There was a women surrounded by friends sitting on one of the stone benches watching it get built. The next second she started crying uncontrollably with her friends consoling her as she looked up on ground zero. It was heart breaking. People are all the same. No matter what country your from. Good people, bad people. I'm pretty new to Internet forums. I've noticed there is a lot of country bashing. If I was to go of this then I would believe that everyone hates everyone. No way that's true. Good outweighs evil. There's a world out there to see and new people to meet. Get out and get a fcuking life !
It's gallows or black humour.
It's actually a way of people coping. Different people react differently to the same situation and so handle it differently.
It's similar to all the Hitler jokes we get nowadays, I imagine that most of the people who make those jokes don't actually think Hitler was a fun guy or that the Holocaust was hilarious, but it's a way of disconnecting from a painful situation and taking the fear out of it.
The minute people start mocking something is when they begin to feel like they are no longer afraid of it; that it no longer has a hold on them.
It doesn't work for everyone, but it does for some.
Because some of them are very, very funny. The best one I heard was from Joan Rivers a few months after 911. Most balanced people on this planet who know a bit about what going on in the world, and know what the US does around the world don’t like what they do one little bit. The US deserve to be the butt of jokes because of what they do. Nobody deserves to get killed. That’s as true for people in the world trade centre as it is for Pakistani, Afghan and Iraqi children but the US deserve to be the butt of the world’s jokes. It’s the only weapon we have against their corporate military industrial complex government.
making jokes is a method dealing with a loss. it puts the events into slightly different context making it easier to deal with. We do it about 9/11, the holocaust, our own mortality... its healthy.
I'm sorry you are offended by it. They do understand it was serious its not belittling the victims its just a way that people deal.
If the joke is funny its a good thing.
People who tell bad bad bad jokes are just bad joke tellers
Why don't people laugh at my jokes?

Co-okbook
Twice a year, together with Titia Huisman of Studio Thuis, we make our vision of interior trends visible in the Co-okbook, a trend book for interior accessories. We describe the long-term societal trends that underlie the different trend themes. Each Co-okbook then contains several themes, complete with color swatches, textures, patterns and shapes.

Burg Consultancy
1999 – 2005 (6 years) IJsselmuiden
Burg Consulting was a trend agency that focused on the trends in interior accessories, gift and flower industries. Here I was working with a creative team responsible for the Trend Forecast. Twice a year we created a trend book, and we set up a complete new showroom in which the themes from the trend book were actually built in 3 D. Customers could then walk in various spaces and experience the atmosphere of the themes around them. I also presented the trend in a Keynote presentation, explaning all the possible themes and I guided brainstorming sessions with the client afterwards. During this time my extensive travels included China and India, where I worked "hands on" in different factories, to develop products for customers.
Freelance designer
Styling & design
May 1998 – May 1999 (1 year 1 month) Emmeloord
As a freelancer I had several missions during this period, including the children's clothing collection for Get Smart at Intres. I also designed baby clothes for various companies, leather jackets, doll clothes, etc. At one time I came in contact with Burg Consultancy, where I started as a freelance trend watcher. Here I started giving trend presentations. I found the skill of trendwatching so interesting and fun, that after a while, when they offered me a job, I accepted it with pleasure!
I realize this answer may come a bit out of left field, but I will refer to Rush Limbaugh for this one. He says that for something to be funny, there HAS to be SOME strain of TRUTH to the matter. If there is not, it is not funny.
